European Deli Opens in Willoughby

We are excited to announce that YourOh! Deli is now open at Willoughby Town Centre and we asked Andrea and Vlad to share why they wanted to open an European deli in the Willoughby area.

YourOh Deli - European Deli

Bound by the love of their daughter and their love of food, business partners Andrea Macikova and Vlad Forgac had tossed around the idea of opening their own deli. With Andrea working at a Polish deli for six years, her neighbour suggested she have a look at Willoughby Town Centre – which was right in the midst of an expansion. It was late August 2017 and it was love at first sight for both Andrea and Vlad who saw the potential in the area and their new venture…A Taste of Europe Deli.

With lease negotiations under way, attempts were made to register the name but anything with Europe, Euro, Europa or European was quickly rejected. Vlad became particularly frustrated and decided to get creative with the spelling – and YourOh! Deli was born. As a marketer, getting the chance to create a brand and market that brand, raised his level of interest in the project ten-fold.

While Andrea designed the interior and planned the ordering, the Guliker Group got to work on the drawings and Rob and Monika Molnar (Robo’s Reliable Renos) hunkered down on the build. With delays at every turn (the deli was scheduled to open Aug. 15th, 2018), Vlad and Andrea finally opened the doors on Dec. 27th, 2018 – with tremendous help from Andrea’s son, Martin.

The reception from the community has been overwhelming with many saying, “Finally, we thought you’d never open!” Andrea and Vlad were beginning to think the same. “It was particularly glorious and momentous to tear down the ugly, dusty brown paper and blue tape from the windows on the night of the 26th,” said Vlad.

Together with Martin, Andrea is back in her element greeting people and sharing her passion for European flavours.

We look forward to being your neighbourhood, European deli for many years to come,” added Andrea.

We are delighted to welcome DLUX Treasures for the Home to Willoughby Town Centre.  This beautiful shop is owned by Tammy, who is excited to be part of the local community.

Tammy chose to open her store at Willoughby Town Centre because she loves the community feel and already feels a part of it, as she has regulars that stop by to say hi, and visit already.

Tammy’s dream was that she wanted to bring together and support local artists and women. With DLUX Treasure for the Home she is doing just that!  Her goal is to bring in as much Canadian and BC made products to feature local artists.

Designer Clothing & Accessories at Willoughby Town Centre

Wildflowers Style & Co.

We were so excited when we found out that Wildflowers Style & Co. clothing boutique was going to be opening at Willoughby Town Centre that we couldn’t wait to talk to Amy about why she chose to come to Langley and what her new boutique has to offer.

Amy grew up in Langley and really liked the philosophy of Willoughby Town Centre’s: Live, work, and play. This concept helped direct her branding idea of a clothing boutique for women that carried styles that would fit seamlessly into a busy lifestyle.

Wildflowers Style & Co. is Amy’s first clothing boutique, not only has she worked in retail for over 18 years, she also has a graphic and interior design background.  This lifelong dream came to fruition in in March of this year, when a local retail contest peaked her interest in opening a clothing boutique in Langley.

Amy is thrilled to bring you clothing and accessory lines from Canada, the US, the UK, and Australia, that are unique to the area, and yet complement what is already out there. Amy is also sourcing more local lines and makers, including a local brand called Jax & Lennon, designed and made in the Valley.

Wildflowers Style & Co. wants to bring you an effortless modern wardrobe. They have hand-picked those essential wardrobe pieces, your go to’s, and can’t live with outs. Filling your closet with quality, key pieces that will grow with your own personal style and carry you from season to season.

World Class Mudo Marshal Arts Instruction Open in Langley

Mudo Martial Arts Langley

Mudo Academy of Marshal Arts opens it’s second location at Willoughby Town Centre.

The first location North Vancouver has been open for 4 years, and John thought it was time to expand to Langley, as he was ready to move into the area to be closer to his family.

Willoughby Town Centre was chosen because of the central location within the Willoughby area and because of all the young parents and young children in the area.

“Young parents and young children represent hope to me.  I feel that nobody works harder and is as honest as parents of young children.”

John, a 5th dan black belt in Taekwondo,  started at the age of 5, taught by his father who is a grand master and competed at local, provincial, national and international competitions, will be at the new Willoughby location full time.

As well as John, they have an incredible team of instructors, including:

Master Kim is also a 5th dan black belt.  She has trained her whole life in Asia.  Her grandmother is the world’s highest ranked female martial artist, and her mother is undefeated two weight division world champion.

Master Park (also a woman) is a 4th degree black belt and has competed at the highest levels in Asia in both sparring and forms.

Sensei Fardin Aghaei is our Judo sensei who is a 6th dan judoka.  He was former coach of Iranian national team, and was invited by Judo Canada to help out with the Canadian team.  At 51 years of age, he still competes in world masters competitions and is passionate about Judo.

We will also have a lady 2nd dan black belt Judo instructor arriving from Asia soon.

Once they are more established in Langley, John and his team hope to give back to the community by offering free anti bullying workshops, and ladies-only self-defense workshops. Watch their website and Facebook page for more details as they are released.

Classes are now open and the schedule is available on their website here

When we spoke with Amanda earlier this year, her vision was to bring together a team of Healthcare Practitioners to support the community in their daily living.

If you run, we can help your body remain in peak condition. If you have bodily pains, we have a team that can help ease it away. If you have an injury, we will do our best to get you back to doing what you love. If you have a chronic condition, we can help you with long term management.

This team is made up of Chiropractors, Registered Massage Therapists, and Physiotherapists. They also  hope to also have a Naturopath, Reflexologist, and a Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner to offer health services options, such as acupuncture, for those who aren’t in a place to have manual therapy treatments due to intense pain or illness.

Please stop by and say hi!
