Not sure how you are going to celebrate or acknowledge Mother’s Day this?  We’ve pulled together some events as well as some ideas to treat your mom this Sunday.

Hosted by the Westcoast Artisan Collective, the Handmade Market for Momma is taking place at West Langley Hall on Friday, May 12 from 5:30 – 9:00pm and Saturday, May 13 from 10:00am – 6:00pm.

Further east in Fort Langley, the annual Bloom Spring Market is happening on Saturday and Sunday, May 13 and 14th from 10:00am – 4:00pm at the Fort Langley Community Hall, giving you the opportunity to shop local from 24+ artisans.

Township 7 invites you to celebrate the special mom in your life for a Mother’s Day. Featuring wine pairings and savoury bites, it’s sure to be a good day. There are two times to attend on Sunday May 14th: 11:30 – 1:30 or 2:30 – 4:30.

May Events in the Fraser Valley and Langley

They say April showers bring May flowers and we definitely had our fair share of showers this spring! And it appears to be true as the cherry blossoms are flowering  and the tulips are in bloom.

Abbotsford Bloom Tulip Festival (running until May 7)

They say that the colder weather has resulted in more vibrant blooms.  There is still time to check out this beautiful display but keep in mind it is selling out on beautiful days!

Canadian Festival of Chili and BBQ  (May 6 -7) – Cascades Casino

Over $15,000 is up for grabs in what is expected to be the largest Chili and BBQ Contest in Langley. Samples will be available for the public to try and there will be lots of fun at this festival.

Royal Canadian Family Circus (May 5 – 7) – Cloverdale Fairgrounds

The all new thrill show will amaze audiences with this time honoured family circus.  Are you ready to run away to the circus?

55th Annual Langley Walk (May 7) – Willoughby Community Centre & Park (LEC)

This annual event has 5km and 10km routes that you can walk, run or bike, and lots of fun for the whole family, including a bouncy castle, obstacle course, face painting and so much more.

Fort Langley Beer and Food Festival (May 20) – Fort Langley National Historic site.

The Trading Post Brewing Company has invited local breweries to join them in serving up delicious CRAFT BEER at a brand new beer festival for the Fraser Valley.

The Langley Community Farmers Market (Opens May 10) – KPU

Langley’s premier farmers market opens for the season on May 10 from 12 – 4:30pm. We are looking forward to all the fresh veggies, yummy pastries and all the other treats the vendors will be selling.

May Day Parade – Victoria Day (May 22) – (Fort Langley)

The 95th Annual Fort Langley May Day Parade takes place at 11am and will start on Mavis, going towards Glover, up Glover to 88th and returning along Trattle.  May pole dancing, rides for kids and vendors will be part of the festivities.

March Means Spring Break

While the weather still threatens snow, the Spring is just around the corner and so is Spring Break.

Applications are being accepted for the Junior Miss BC as well as Miss Teen and Mrs BC. If you are interested in taking part in this event, apply today.  The Miss, Miss Teen, and Mrs BC Pageant will take place from July 1-3 2017, Fort Langley, BC.

Spring Break at Fort Langley takes place March 11 – 26, 2017 and includes old-fashioned activities daily from 11:00 am-3:00 pm. You can shoot a target with their reproduction muskets for a small fee, visit the farm animals and earn a reward for completing the fun activities in their Xplorers booklet.

Starting March 11, 2017 the Township of Langley’s Spring Break Bonanza begins with a number of day camps and programs to join. Find out more here.

January 2017 Things to do in Langley

While we are immersed in this deep freeze, there are still lots of things to do in Langley and the Fraser Valley this January, both inside and outside.

Canada is celebrating it’s 150th birthday this year with events happening across the Lower Mainland and Canada throughout the year.  The Fort Langley National Historical site is starting the celebrations with Canada 150 Ice Sculpting on January 21st at 1pm.

Also taking place at the Fort Langley Historical site on January 21 – 22 from 10am – 5pm is the Vive les Voyageurs French-Canadian Festival featuring with the unique folklore and culture of the voyageurs and fur traders who lived at 19th-century Fort Langley.

The Vancouver Giants are playing at home at the Langley Events Center on January 13th, 17th, 20th, 23rd and 27th. Get your tickets here.
